FAQs
If you couldn't schedule a conference, that's okay! Here's some of the questions I am frequently asked with answers. I hope this is helpful!
Q: In choir, which assignments are summative and which are formative?
A: The music theory work is formative, the recordings, self-assessments, and concerts are summative.
Q: Can my student redo or make up work?
A: Any musictheory.net assignment can be redone or made up for full credit until nearly the end of the semester (around the final week, there is a deadline to allow for grades to be finalized).
Q: My student said he/she did their assignment, but there isn’t a grade on Infinite Campus, what happened?
A: Often this is a problem with the turn-in procedure. Upon completion of musictheory.net assignments, there is a screen that says “high score” and lists the score. Students should click on that score. This will allow them a space to put in their name and click “sign report”. On the final screen, they can choose “copy link” and paste that link into google classroom to turn in the assignment.
Q: What if my son/daughter is missing on the day of a recording?
A: We take recordings in class periodically, each student records themselves while rehearse a section in class. If a student is absent on a recording day, it will appear as though that assignment wasn’t given to them. This does add weight to their other recordings, but generally is not a problem.
Q: How do they turn a recording in?
A: Ideally, through google classroom. That doesn’t always work for everyone though. There is a QR code in the classroom where they can attach the file through dropbox.com. Other ways of sharing a video include uploading the file to onedrive or google drive and sharing link. Students can also upload their video to youtube as an unlisted video and share the link (note: if they list it as private, they are the only person who can watch it).
Q: When are the concerts?
A: There is a tab on the webpage that lists all the upcoming performances. You can find it by clicking “events”.
