Joliet West High School is located in the Southwest suburbs of Chicago, and is home to 2900 students.  Joliet West's Vocal Music department is among its prized jewels, and it features four curricular choirs, an annual Spring Musical, a Fall Opera Scenes program, two small pop singing groups, and it feeds students into the Joliet West Chapter of Modern Music Masters.

Joliet West's Choirs include a Concert Choir of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors which is an auditioned group.  The Concert Choir performs selections ranging from Renaissance, to Multi-cultural, to modern works.  The Concert Choir received the title of Grand Champion at the St. Louis "Music in the Parks" festival in Spring of 2010, and at Cincinnati's "Music in the Parks" festival in Spring of 2012.

Other Choirs at Joliet West include two entry level Mixed Choirs, and an advanced Women's Ensemble.  In addition to the curricular groups, Joliet West is home to the a cappella pop group the "jTunes".  The jTunes are a mixed group who sings selections ranging from pop to Renaissance, and pride themselves upon diversity of their palatte.  "That Jazz Group" is also a large part of the Joliet West Vocal Music Scene.  They, under the direction of Ms. Melanie Brsan, explore jazz music of the 20th and 21st century, and are very active in performing in the community.

The Vocal Music program is also the parent program to the unique Opera Scenes program at Joliet West.  A rarity among high school ranks, the Opera Scenes program promotes healthy singing, in a natural high school voice as well as an awareness of opera literature.  On September 21st, 2012, Joliet West students will perform scenes from Puccini's "La Bohéme", Dvorak's "Rusalka", and Gilbert & Sullivan's "Utopia Unlimited".
